Researchers say STEVE isn't an aurora

What's been called a new kind of aurora - the striking sky phenomenon dubbed STEVE - isn't an aurora at all, according to a new study.

John Ashley in Glacier National Park, Montana, wrote: "The August Milky Way fades behind smoke ... Smoke from forest fires in Montana and around the Pacific Northwest is blanketing a number of states and provinces across North America."

Tonight … Moon, Saturn, Mars
