2017's costliest hurricanes Hurricane Harvey at peak intensity - August 25, 2017 - near the coast of Texas. Much of its damage came from flooding triggered by rainfall in the Houston metropolitan area. Harvey is tied with Hurricane Katrina as the costliest tropical cyclone on record.
