| | | Multi-color image of the interstellar object | Gemini Observatory released this 2-color composite image of the 2nd interstellar object - C/2019 Q4 - on Friday afternoon. It looks comet-like doesn't it? Its hyperbolic orbit (see image at top of page), and its appearance, are why astronomers are calling it a comet. Astronomers used the Gemini North Multi-Object Spectrograph (GMOS) from Hawaii’s Maunakea to obtain this image, which consists of 4 60-second exposures. Blue and red dashes are images of background stars which appear to streak due to the motion of the object. Image via Travis Rector/ Gemini Observatory/ NSF/ AURA. | | | | |

| | Singapore Harvest Moon | View at EarthSky Community Photos. | Kannan A captured this image last night. He said, “The Harvest Moon tonight in Singapore coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival by the Chinese. Despite the hazy and cloudy skies, the full moon appeared in the sky brightly illuminated and at almost 100% full.” | | |
