Now the moon has waned to a very thin crescent in the east before dawn. The bright object nearby is Venus. The pair - so near the sunrise - will be a wonderful sight Tuesday morning if you have a clear sky all the way to the eastern horizon!
Dennis Chabot of POSNE NightSky caught Venus in the east before dawn on Sunday morning. Telescopically, you can see that Venus is a crescent. That's because it passed between us and the sun on October 26 ... and its fully illuminated side, or day side, is still facing mostly away from us.
