Big Dipper to Polaris, Mizar, Alcor The 2 outer stars in the bowl of the Big Dipper - Dubhe and Merak - always point to Polaris, which is part of the famous Little Dipper. Mizar and Alcor are a naked-eye double star, located second-to-last from the end of the Big Dipper's handle.
