Triton is Neptune's largest moon. It's a bizarre and geologically active world - a possible ocean moon - visited by Voyager 2 in 1989. Now, NASA has proposed a new mission called Trident to sweep past Triton again in 2038. Read more.

Before sunup … Moon, Jupiter, Saturn
Pluto is a million times fainter than Saturn and more than 2 thousand times fainter than the faintest star visible to the unaided eye on a dark, moonless night. On March 29, the moon will occult, or cover over, Saturn. Then, some 7 hours later, the moon will occult Pluto. Read more.
Large Magellanic Cloud over Neill Island
View at EarthSky Community Photos. | Northern Hemisphere skywatchers need to be south of about 20 degrees N. latitude to see the Large Magellanic Cloud. Aman Chokshi caught it from Neill Island, India, at about 10 degrees N.
