This weekend … Moon, Mercury, Venus
Opportunity to view Mercury tonight as the young moon sweeps past it. Sunday night's sweep of the moon past Venus will be spectacular!
And keep looking for Mars!
You'll find Mars easily. It's an extremely bright red "star," ascending in the east by mid-evening evening, crossing the sky the rest of the night.

Bad news. Moonlight will obscure the Delta Aquarid's nominal peak in late July. Good news! The Delta Aquarids will still be flying at the moon-free Perseid meteor shower peak in early August.
Heads up! It's a month of eclipses
Partial solar eclipse happened July 13. Total lunar eclipse July 27. Partial solar eclipse August 11.
Century's longest lunar eclipse July 27
Red moon, red Mars. It doesn't get any better than this.

Photographer Nitin J. Sanke captured this image at Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone National Park. Nitin said, “All the green color you see in the image is natural airglow.”
Next few evenings … Look for moon, Mercury, Venus
Look soon after sunset on Saturday to spot the slender crescent moon pairing up with Mercury. Scan with binoculars if you have them! On Sunday evening, the moon and Venus will be a wonderful sight in the west after sunset.
