July 9 - Saturn! Plus A New Theory of Gravity

As seen from Earth, the north face of Saturn's rings opened up most widely (27 degrees) in 2017. Now we're past the peak of the north ring-face opening, but Saturn’s rings are still fairly inclined, and still showing us their northern face. In other words, Saturn's yearly opposition is today. The ringed planet is opposite the sun in our sky, rising at sunset, highest up for the night around midnight. Saturn is now brightest and best for 2019. Read more.
