How do planets form after star death?

Supernova explosions destroy pre-existing planets. Yet astronomers observe planets orbiting tiny, dense, essentially dead neutron stars left behind by supernovae. How do the planets get there?

Earthquake rocks Montana early Thursday

The 5.8-magnitude earthquake in western Montana took place just after midnight, local time. It woke people up near the epicenter and was felt throughout the region. Expect aftershocks.

Tonight … Moon closest to Saturn
Want to identify Saturn, jewel of our solar system? Tonight is a great night for it, because this planet is near the moon. The star Antares is also nearby.
Jupiter at east quadrature July 6
It's a hallmark of Jupiter's appearance in our sky. At eastern quadrature, Jupiter is highest in the sky around 6 p.m. local time.
